GORGEOUS VINTAGE POWDER COMPACT
PURPLE OR LAVENDER ENAMEL GUILLOCHE STERLING SILVER

This compact is in nice condition with some flaws. There is no mirror, and there are several areas of enamel loss on the top of the bottom half, as well as 2 small areas of loss and 2 "pits" on the bottom of the compact. There are also light scratches over the entire compact. The inside of the compact is inscribed "MADE IN AUSTRIA STERLING SILVER", with a hallmark of some sort. Also, the number 379 is on the inside. The inside bottom is gold over sterling. If the outside was also that, the gold is no longer there. The inside top is enameled, except where the silver is pierced.
The compact is about 3 1/4 inches in diameter. This is large for a sterling compact. In fact, the only reason I am selling it is because it does not fit in the display case with my other compacts. It weighs about 112 grams (4 ounces). When I bought it, it came with a metal insert for powder (not sterling, I don't think), that was probably not original to the piece. I will include that.
In spite of the issues, this is still a beautiful compact.
