PERFECTLY WORKING (IN ORIGINAL SHAPE/CONDITION) WITH IT'S ORIGINAL BOX (MORE ON THIS LATER) AND IT'S ORIGINAL SCHUCO NO. 3 KEY. NO SURPRISES HERE .... JUST A PRISTINE, TIN & PLASTIC, CLOCKWORK (OR WINDUP) SUBMARINO (SUBMARINE), SCHUCO

THIS 3007 IS AS CLOSE TO NOS (NEW OLD STOCK) AS ONE COULD HOPE FOR.
FIRST LET ME START OFF BY SAYING MOST OF THESE SUBMARINO'S ON THE MARKET TODAY HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THE CONNING TOWER AND THE REMOVABLE RUBBER "KEY ENTRY POINTS" PLUNGER/STOPPER.
BACK WHEN THIS 3007  WAS MADE, WE DID NOT HAVE THE UNDERSTANDING OF RUBBERS AND POLYMERS THAT WE DO TODAY. YOU WILL NOTICE THAT ON MOST TO ALL OF THESE SUBMARINO MODELS (BOTH THE ELEKTRO AND CLOCKWORK VERSIONS), YOU HAVE WHAT APPEARS TO BE A MELTING OF THE SURROUNDING AREA WHERE THE RUBBER STOPPER COMES IN CONTACT WITH THE PLASTIC CONNINGS TOWER. THIS IS ACTUALLY IS A CHEMICAL REACTION WHICH OCCURS OVER TIME .... LIKE DECADES! THE WEAKER OF THE MATERIAL, THE PLASTIC, BREAKS DOWN AND FAILS. WHAT YOU END UP WITH IS A SOFT AND PLIABLE PASTE, WHICH IS USELESS IN THIS APPLICATION!
THIS SUBMARINO'S "PLUNGER/STOPPER" WAS STORED OUTSIDE OF IT'S CONNING TOWER FOR MOST OF IT'S LIFE. EVEN THOUGH UPON CLOSE INSPECTION THIS HOLE SEEMS TO BE SLIGHTLY IRREGULAR, THIS 3007 HAS A TIGHT AND WATERPROOF SEAL. THE RUBBER PERISCOPE TOWER IS IN PERFECT ORIGINAL CONDITION/SHAPE.
THIS SUBMARINO ACTUALLY DIVES UNDER WATER AND IN DOING SO, YOU DO NEED A TIGHT SEAL TO PREVENT WATER FROM ENTERING THE SEALED ENGINE CHAMBER AND DAMAGING THE INTERNAL GEARS. YOU DO NOT HAVE THAT ISSUE WITH THIS PARTICULAR MODEL!
AND ANOTHER SERIOUS ISSUE WITH THIS 3007 MODEL IS THAT MOST FOLKS SIMPLY TRY TO PULL PROPELLER SHAFT OUT AND APART FROM THE BASE. THIS IS DONE WHEN YOU ARE FINISHED USING THIS SUBMARINE. THIS IS TO DRY OFF AND THEN SPRAY IT'S INTERNAL WORKINGS WITH SOMETHING LIKE WD40 TO PREVENT THE GEARS FROM SEIZING AND RUSTING. HOWEVER, THE INTERNAL MAINSPRING IS TRADITIONALLY UNWOUND WHEN THIS IS ATTEMPTED AND THIS IS WHERE THE TROUBLE SETS IN!
WHEN THE POWERFUL MAINSPRING IS NOT WOUND UP, IT HAS EXPANDED TO RELEASE ALL OF IT'S TENSION AND IN DOING SO IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE OR DISMANTLE THE DRIVE~TRAIN FROM THE BASE. IT'S SIMPLY TOO LARGE TO SLIDE OUT OF THE HOLE! BUT, MOST FOLKS WILL SIMPLY YANK IT OUT AND THIS AND IN TURN, THIS WILL CAUSE THE PLASTIC BASE TO SPLIT, JUST BELOW THE WATERLINE. ONCE THIS HAPPENS, YOU'LL HAVE TO GLUE THE SEAM CLOSED AND HOPE THAT IT DOES NOT LEAK WATER!
WITH THIS 3007, YOU HAVE NO SUCH ISSUE.
THE SECRET IS THAT YOU HAVE TO WIND UP THE MAINSPRING A LITTLE BIT (ABOUT HALF WAY) JUST PRIOR TO TAKING IT APART AND MAKE SURE THAT YOU DO NOT DISCHARGE IT! THIS IS EASY TO DO, BUT YOU MUST REMEMBER TO USE THE REAR RED RUDDER AS THE "OFF" LEVER VS. THE BUILT IN LEVER A TOP OF THE REAR END OF THIS SUBMARINE TO STOP THE PROPELLER FROM SPINNING (OR DISCHARGING THE ENGINE). THIS TOP LEVER IS NOT GOOD FOR THIS OPERATION AS ONCE YOU SEPERATE THE BODY FROM THE TOP, IT WILL INSTANTLY DISCHARGE. AGAIN, BY PIVOTING THIS REAR RUDDER ALL THE WAY TO ONE SIDE ... IT DOES NOT MATTER WHICH SIDE, AS LONG AS IT MAKES CONTACT WITH THE PROPELLER AND PREVENTS IT FROM TURNING, IS THE SECRET. I HAVE TAKEN PICTURES OF HOW THIS REAR RUDDER LOOKS IN BOTH LOCKED POSITIONS. WHEN THE RUDDER IS USED, YOU CAN CONTINUE...
NOW YOU CAN BREAK APART THIS SUBMARINE WITH NO ISSUES OR DIFFICULTIES. IF YOU DO EXPERIENCE ANY DIFFICULTY IN PULLING THE REAR END OUT FROM THE BODY, TRY GIVING IT ANOTHER FULL 360 DEGREE TURN OF THE KEY. THIS WILL MAKE THE MAINSPRING SMALLER IN DIAMETER, HENCE EASIER TO BE WITHDRAWN. AND DO NOT FORCE THESE PIECES APART, YOU'LL ONLY DAMAGE THE PLASTIC SHELL IN DOING SO.
YOU SIMPLY REVERSE THE OPERATION TO REASSEMBLE THE SUBMARINE AND TO PREPARE IT FOR THE WATER OR SAFE STORAGE.
ONCE IN THE WATER, YOU HAVE A FULL RANGE TO ADJUST THE FRONT HYDROPLANES FOR EITHER RUNNING ON THE SURFACE OR FOR A DEEP DIVE. IN ADDITION, YOU ALSO HAVE A FULL RANGE FOR THE REAR RUDDER TO SET YOUR COURSE STRAIGHT AHEAD OR VEER OFF TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT. YOU ONLY HAVE ONE SPEED AND THAT IS FULL THROTTLE!
IDEALLY YOU HAVE A POOL TO PLAY AROUND IN, BUT, A BATHTUB WILL WORK WITH ADULT SUPERVISION AS WELL..... JUST BE MINDFUL OF THE REAR PROPELLER WHEN DISCHARGING OR TURNED "ON"!  AND TO POWER THIS SUBMARINO UP, ALL YOU NEED DO IS TO REMOVE THE RUBBER STOPPER/PLUNGER, INSERT THE ORIGINAL SCHUCO LONG SHANK NR. 3 KEY AND WIND HER UP
. TRY NOT TO OVERWIND HER AS THE SPRING IS OLD AND BRITTLE, SO ALWAYS DO TOO LITTLE VS. TOO MUCH!
ON THIS 3007, YOU HAVE NO RUST, NO DINGS, NO CORROSION AND NO CRACKS FOUND ANYWHERE ON THIS SCHUCO SUBMARINO.
THE FRONT RUDDERS DO SHOW SOME SLIGHT DISCOLORATION ON THE TOP SECTION, IF YOU USE SOME 0000 STEEL WOOL, THIS ISSUE GOES AWAY.
THE BOX PROVIDED HERE IS THE ORIGINAL BOX AND DOES HAVE A FEW SMALL PIECES OF TAPE TO HOLD ONE END OF THIS BOX CLOSED. THESE ORIGINAL BOXES ARE RARELY LOCATED AS MOST PARENTS SIMPLY SLID THE SUBMARINE INTO THE BOX WHEN IT WAS STILL WET, THUS THESE ARE KNOWN TO BE TOSSED AS TIME GOES ON .... THE BOXES FAILED. ONE END OF THIS BOX IS MISSING TWO (2) OF THE THREE (3) PANELS AS PICTURED.

DECADES AGO, MY DAD REPRESENTED SCHUCO AS A TOY DISTRIBUTOR. THIS WAS A MODEL HE GAVE TO MY SISTER, WHO HAD NO INTEREST IN ANYTHING BUT DOLLS! AS SUCH, I CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT THIS 3007 HAS SEEN WATER LESS THEN A HANDFUL OF TIMES. I DID TEST THIS 3007 ON JUNE 17TH AND IT WORKED AS DESIGNED, I TESTED IT TO SEE IF IT LEAKED (WHICH IT DID/DOES NOT).
