    Description

It is not often that one comes across Marcel Boucher's sterling silver jewelry set such as this. He worked for Cartier in France and is probably better known in North America for his costume jewelry. However, during World War 2 he worked in Mexico producing silver jewelry. During this wartime period the white metal that was used for costume jewelry was restricted for military use and sterling was substituted. Marcel Boucher moved his business to Mexico, because there was an abundant supply of silver. The " Parisina" line was created. Aptly named " Parisina" attributing his Parisian roots. It was exciting to find this necklace/bracelet set. Some of the most prized and collectible Boucher pieces are his 1940's Parisina Mexican Sterling line. These sterling pieces are rare and highly collectible.  Both pieces in this set are Hallmarked: “Sterling Mexico Parisina” and also have the “Eagle Stamp” from this era that was required to signify purity.  Most of these pieces made in this era were higher than 925 parts per 1000. Both matching pieces are an intricate
    scroll
fluted pattern with pear shaped red glass cabochons. (I believe they are glass, I really don't know). The Necklace measures 15-1/2" in circumference and the bracelet measures 7-1/4" from end to end. both clasp systems are in good working order. I have gently cleaned these pieces but patina remains. This is a spectacular pair that has lasted a life time and will continue through many more. This is absolutely a rare and gorgeous find!
"Sterling Mexico Parisina," which is Marcel Bouchard's mark as listed on page 15 in Bille Hougart's book,
The Little Book of Mexican Silver Trade and Hallmarks
    .
