    “Like other American cosmetic companies Harriet Hubbard Ayer developed an ‘indelible’ lipstick during the ‘Lipstick Wars’ of the 1950s. Called Ayerfast, it was released in 1951 in nine shades including Tulip, Royal Blue, Painted Daisy, Simply Pink, Mint Rose and Clove Carnation. Of these Mint Rose and Clove Carnation are particularly interesting as they were flavoured, the earliest example of a flavoured lipstick.
